In humid Bangkok, straightening to tame frizz and waves is in high demand — but product and technique make all the difference. Ciel uses Japanese products and reads the condition of your hair to adjust the chemistry and iron heat, for a result that is smooth and glossy without going flat or stiff. Fringe-only and partial straightening can be discussed. Japanese, English and Thai spoken, moments from BTS Phrom Phong.

Will it look natural?
Yes. We control product and heat to your hair type so it doesn’t go poker-straight or stiff — you keep softness and natural movement.
Can you straighten bleached hair?
To avoid breakage, we may decline straightening on heavily damaged or bleached hair. We always check the condition in consultation first.
The Ciel method — three things we analyse before we touch your hair
At Ciel we do not start from "what style do you want". We start from three analyses, then design the menu that fits you.
- Your actual hair — thickness, damage from colour or bleach, chemical history, natural wave. Checked section by section from root to end.
- Bangkok water and climate — hard tap water, sun, humidity and air-conditioning mean hair here needs different formulas and steps than in Japan. We run a mineral-removal prep before every chemical service.
- Your lifestyle and home care — how often you wash, whether you blow-dry, sport, sun or office air — so the result lasts, not just looks good on day one.
Aki (4 years in Japan, 3 in Australia) and View (Thai stylist, Thai-speaking) confirm the plan and the total price before starting. No surprises at the till.
What Japanese straightening is — and how it differs from ordinary rebonding
Japanese straightening restructures the hair with a two-step solution and heat. The chemistry is not the secret; the secret is controlling time, temperature and tension section by section. Most Asian hair is thick and carries several wave patterns on one head, and the roots and ends are never equally damaged. One formula applied everywhere gives you the classic "rebonded" look: flat at the root, stiff at the ends, sometimes breakage.
- Ordinary rebonding: one formula, whole head, same iron temperature → dead straight but flat, stiff, no movement.
- Japanese straightening at Ciel: zones with different strength and timing, ironed in thin slices at the lowest effective temperature, roots left with lift, ends curving in naturally.
- Volume straightening: only the frizzy parts are straightened; roots stay up and ends turn under — for people who do not want poker-straight hair.
The process (about 3 hours)
- Consultation and strand test — chemical history, elasticity test, agree on the degree of straightness.
- Mineral-removal prep — Bangkok hard water leaves deposits that block even absorption.
- Step-1 solution by zone — root, mid-length and ends timed separately, checked every 5 minutes.
- Rinse, dry, iron — thin slices, temperature matched to the hair, roots spaced for volume.
- Step-2 neutraliser — locks the new structure; TOKIO treatment the same day is recommended for damaged hair.
- Home-care briefing — no washing, tying or tucking behind the ears for 48 hours.
Who it suits — and who should wait
- Suits: frizzy or wavy hair that swells in the rainy season, anyone who irons every morning and wants to wake up done.
- Suits: thick hair that went flat with ordinary rebonding and wants volume back.
- Caution: bleached or recently high-toned hair — we test first. Some cases we postpone, or recommend Kerasilk keratin (฿3,990) as the safer route.
- Not recommended: re-straightening already-straightened lengths. Touch up the new growth only (฿2,990).
Price and aftercare
Japanese straightening ฿3,990 (3 hours) · root touch-up for returning guests ฿2,990 · fringe only ฿1,990. Final price confirmed in salon by length and volume. Use a sulphate-free shampoo, a treatment once a week and always dry before bed; the result lasts until your next root touch-up in 4–6 months.
Japanese straightening or keratin — which one?
If your hair is healthy and you want permanently straight hair, choose Japanese straightening. If it has been bleached or is very damaged, or you only want less frizz, choose Kerasilk keratin (฿3,990, lasts 3–4 months, far gentler). We test your hair and tell you honestly before starting.
Should I cut after straightening?
We recommend it: split or damaged ends show more once the hair is smooth.
Can I colour and straighten on the same day?
We normally suggest two weeks apart, straightening first. If it must be the same day, we assess the hair and may switch to a gentler colour.
