Bangkok is hard on the scalp: heat and sweat all day, then hours of dry air-conditioning, hard water, sunscreen and styling product that never fully wash out. The result is an oily, itchy or flaky scalp, a heavy feeling at the roots and, over time, finer hair. Ciel's scalp treatment is the Japanese head spa approach: clean the scalp properly, restore circulation, then treat — done by a hair stylist who can also see what your hair needs.
Head massage (spa or barber) is relaxation only, on dry or lightly wet hair. Scalp treatment at a clinic is often a product applied after a normal shampoo. A Japanese head spa combines both: the cleansing and steam are the treatment, the massage restores circulation, and it ends with a proper hair treatment and blow-dry, so you leave with a styled finish. At Ciel the scalp treatment is the head spa; see the head spa page for the full ritual.
For an oily or itchy scalp in Bangkok's climate, every 3–4 weeks for the first three visits, then every 4–6 weeks for maintenance. Combine with your haircut (60-min course + cut from ฿2,560) so it fits a normal salon rhythm. Between visits: rinse the scalp thoroughly, not just the hair, and keep conditioner off the roots.
Ciel is a Japanese hair salon on the 2nd floor of the Ariston Hotel, Soi Sukhumvit 24, about 2 minutes from BTS Phrom Phong next to Emporium and EmQuartier. Open 10:00–19:00, closed Wednesdays. English, Japanese and Thai spoken. Men and women welcome; the treatment can be booked on its own without a haircut.

Yes — this is what most guests book it for. The deep cleanse and steam remove hardened sebum that daily shampoo cannot, and most people notice lighter roots for two to three weeks.
It improves the scalp environment and circulation, which supports healthy growth. It is care, not a medical treatment; for sudden or patchy loss we recommend seeing a dermatologist.
No. A head massage is relaxation on dry hair. Our treatment cleanses and steams the scalp first, then massages, then finishes with a hair treatment and blow-dry.
Yes. Around half of scalp-treatment guests are men, often combined with a cut.
